Cape Cod Bonsai Club
Our Founding:

Fred Widmayer of Osterville founded our club in November of 1989 after sharing his interest in this ancient art form with others at the Barnstable County Fair. That first group of enthusiasts ranged from landscape contractors and day care owners, to medical doctors. Their interest was to share ideas and advance their collective learning in Bonsai. Along with Fred, a number of influential people have contributed to the growth and knowledge of the club including, Mike Novik, Mark Heinlein, Bill Stecker, and John Elliot. In later years people like Mariam Berninger, and Ray Perry advanced our learning. The club has a long history of exhibits to promote the club and enhance the public's exposure to this art. At institutions such as the  Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the CCBC has displayed trees and given demonstrations free to the public. And at events including the Hyannis Rotary's Home and Garden shows to displays at High Field Hall, there are annual opportunities for you to discover what we've enjoyed for over 30 years.
